Brad Fire (born Bradley Dean Dryer) passed away on April 7th in Lenexa, KS, at the age of 52.

Brad was born in Syracuse, NY, and moved with his family many times throughout his childhood, including living in Singapore for a few years. After graduating from Orange High School in Pepper Pike, Ohio, he earned an engineering degree from Rice University.

Brad and his brother Jeff started a discussion forum in 1995 called Silicon Investor, which became a thriving online community. It was the first website that evaluated tech stocks and first community of its kind. Its success caught the eye of Go2Net, which purchased Silicon Investor in 1998.

In 1999, Brad married Dawn Fire (div. 2015). They had three children and built Peeper Ranch (later changed to Fire Stables), where kids from the community could learn to ride and interact with horses.

Brad loved hiking, biking, yoga, and growing plants. His research and passion for a wide variety of topics made him a constant source of information.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn (Barnes) Dryer. He is survived by his father Barry Dryer, brother Jeff Dryer, sister Kaitlyn (Dryer) Salamone, and children Jaden Montgomery, Brock Fire, and Annika Fire.

A visitation will be held on April 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa. The family will have a small, outdoor celebration of Brad’s life in the days to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice or a tree may be planted in his honor.
