Nov 28, 1951---Jan 10, 2022

Renee Marie Coury, 70, passed away on January 10, 2022 after a brief but noble fight with liver cancer at KU Med Center.  She was born in Sioux City, IA to Elias and Kay Coury.  She went to grade school in Denver, CO,  graduated from West High School in Wichita, KS and Dodge City Community College, Dodge City, KS.  She was diagnosed at the age of 19 with rheumatoid arthritis and bravely went through at least 15 surgeries with grace.  She played competitive tennis until she could no longer hold a tennis racket, and that was the only time she cried about her diagnosis of arthritis. She loved spending time with her friends and going to the casinos in Council Bluff.  Renee lived in Omaha, NE for 43 years until she relocated to Overland Park to live with Suzie and John.  She worked at Century Link for 45 years as a sales support specialist until she retired in 2019.

The surviving family members are Kathleen Barrett, Tom Coury, Suzie (John) Broberg, Liz (Steve) Bauer and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Kay Coury, sister Mary (Frank) Cain, brothers Dennis (Carol) Cutting and Robert Coury.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

A celebration of life will be held later in Omaha, NE due to Covid.

To Renee's Family: I am so sorry for your (our) loss. Renee was one of my most favorite guests @Harrahs. Renee will be sorely missed as I could always count on her for a smile & a joke on a busy Friday night. Renee will be forever in my heart.

Eener always had a smile and a laugh for me. We worked in the same offices for many years at the phone company and she was always one to go to for help or simply someone that would listen. I am a better person for having known her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.
