     Oren L. Hamlett, 92, of Tonganoxie, KS. passed away on November 23, 2021.  He was born January 8, 1929, in Kansas City, MO to Oren A. and Eva A. (Lewis) Hamlett.  He married JoAnn L. Bobst on November 10, 1956 and lived in Kansas City, KS until moving to Tonganoxie, KS in 2002.  Before his working career, he served his country in the United States Army.  Oren was employed at Caterpillar for 30 years, a member of the Local Union #71, and a past Union Representative, retiring in 1994.  Oren had a couple of nicknames "Sonny" (given by his family while he was growing up) and "Curly" (given by his coworkers at Caterpillar, because of his lack of hair).  

He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn Hamlett, children T.N. "Whitey" White, Catherine Sue White Bruce, grandchildren Jean Ann White, Jeremiah Bruce, brother Paul Hamlett, and his sister Bonnie Edgington.  Oren is survived by his daughter Lori and Tim Sanders, daughter-in-law Judy Alexander White, four grandchildren Jill White Elbert, Cherish Bruce Thomas, Zebulon Sanders and Zachary Sanders, brother Glenn Hamlett, sisters Wanda Hamlett, Donna Maul, ten great grandchildren Alex, Samantha, Maxine, Katelyn, Sierra, Zoey, Lillian, William, Emma and Amelia,  three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The thing I remember most about Curly is how him and John would talk crap to each other all day long! When he wasn't talking crap, he was talking about his family. He really cared about you guys, and he was happy about the way everyone was growing up and the way everyone was turning out. I'm glad that he was able to spend his last years with his family.
