Anita H. Higginbotham, 81, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at the Homestead of Overland Park. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October, 2 at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
Anita was born May 3, 1940, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Delaney and Lillian (Kasiah) Gross. She married the love of her life David Higginbotham on December 28, 1957 until his passing on January 3rd, 2006. They filled their lives with three daughters, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Anita and David enjoyed going to the Lake and Cancun, Mexico. Anita's first job was with Damon Alarm as a soldering electrician. She then worked for H&R Block as a manager in the school's department working in the computer area, She is a self-taught programmer. After a few years at H&R Block, her supervisor opened an advertising agency, The Sunflower Group and he asked her to run the computer department. She retired in 1995 and cared for her youngest grandchildren until they entered school. Anita is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Hayden, Diana Wilson and her husband Mark, Rachel Hontz, grandchildren, Brent Higginbotham, Matthew Hayden, Nicholas Pressler, Patrick Welch and his wife, Ladylyn, Shawn Welch and his wife, Meghan, Danielle Jacobson, Alyson Welch, 7 great grandchildren, a sister, Arnetta Weaver and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
