Shirley Marie Finan, 93, Overland Park, KS, formerly of Salina, KS passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the home. The Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Old Stone Chapel, 9130 Pflumm Road, Lenexa, KS. Burial in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 8300 Quivira Rd., Lenexa, KS. Friends may call 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the service at the Old Stone Chapel. The family requests no flowers and suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Shirley was born August 15, 1928, in Salina, KS the daughter of Frank and Edith Lewis. Shirley began her banking career at the First National Bank of Salina, KS and later continued her career in banking in Kansas City, KS and Olathe, KS.
Shirley was a great “social director” organizing neighborhood luncheons, bowling leagues and was often the parent in charge of her daughter’s BlueBird, Camp Fire Girls and cheerleading groups. Shirley enjoyed outdoor activities such as swimming and diving and the babbling brooks of Colorado. Shirley and Bud attended their grandchildren’s weekly sporting events often driving hours to attend.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law James Lickteig. Shirley is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bernard “Bud” Finan, of the home, two daughters Lisa Bower (Ron) and Sheri Lickteig, brother Frank Lewis (Beverly), grandchildren Brent, Jared, Danielle and Tanner and eight great grandchildren Lucas, Chloe, Emmy, Grace, Morgan, Brooklyn, Bridger and Grayson and numerous nieces and nephews.
