Martha  Hubbard, 81, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021.  Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 14, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th St. Shawnee,  KS 66216;  Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa,  Kansas.

Martha was born on January 20, 1940 to Patrick H. and Dorothy (Kunsemuller) McHugh and raised in Yonkers, NY. While attending the College of Mount Saint Vincent where she earned a BS in Chemistry/Physics, she met Cadet Johnny R. Hubbard at West Point Military Academy. They were married in 1962 and lead a career military life. Martha supported her husband, family and country thru multiple moves until Johnny’s retirement in 1988, when they settled in Lenexa, KS and became members of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

With children raised, Martha returned to college and obtained her BS in Business from Saint Mary College then spent 17 years as a paralegal for Slagle, Bernard and Gorman. Another move allowed them to become members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Martha volunteered for many causes. She co-founded Bowties for Babies Gala, to support Alexandra's House.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Father Jerome McHugh, OFM Cap and grandson, Jacob C. Justice. Martha is survived by her husband of 59 years, COL Johnny R. Hubbard, USA, Ret., four children:  Lt Col Brian S. Hubbard, USAF, Ret. and his wife MAJ Donna J. Hubbard, USA, Ret., Michelle Duncan, Kim and her husband, Timm Justice, Steve Hubbard, eight grandchildren: Keith, Amanda, Kyle, Adam, Eric, Kayla, Haley, and Kai, her brother Father John P. McHugh, OFM Cap and extended family.
