John D. Foret, 95, of Westwood, KS, died peacefully, Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his home. Due to the Covid Pandemic, the services will be private.
John was born August 6, 1926, in San Diego, California, as the only child of Albert and Ella Foret. He spent his childhood and college years in the area. His military service was spent as a pharmacist’s mate in the US Navy.
John graduated from the University of Chicago Medical School and moved to Kansas City for his internship and residency in urology at Kansas University Medical Center. He was appointed to the Kansas University Medical Center staff and remained there 35 years until his retirement. He attained the designation of professor and was appointed Chief of Urology at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Throughout his professional career, John's focus was on patient care and teaching residents.
During retirement John maintained his work ethic performing volunteer service with various agencies. These include the Johnson County Library, AARP tax prep program, Meals on Wheels, and St. Agnes Parish ministries.
John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruby, his children Br. Gregory, OSB, Ann (Joe Garrison), Jean (Jay Corazza), Carol, Irene (Albert Calvin), seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
