Mr. Donald James Tevebaugh, age 67, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 23, 2021 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, Lenexa, KS. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery – Holy Family Mausoleum in Lenexa, KS.
Donald was born to Joseph and Naomi Tevebaugh and grew up in Leavenworth, Kansas. He developed his love for all things baseball, especially the Kansas City Royals, surrounded by his many brothers and sisters. Don or as he was known to many “Jimmy” enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was deployed to Germany.
After Jimmy’s Honorable Discharge from the Army he met the love of his life Peggy Tevebaugh. Jim and Peggy immediately fell in love and were inseparable. They were a dynamic duo that loved all children. He would do anything for their numerous nieces and nephews. They raised two daughters (Lisa and Jessica) and one son (Nicholas) together in a loving and supportive home. He was blessed with two granddaughters (Sabrina and Annalise) and grandson (Gavin). Gramps and Sabrina loved just being together while Papa and Gavin were morning cartoon buddies.
Jim also loved Sporting KC, KC Chiefs, and the Liverpool Premiere team. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, children, and the numerous family members that would join him on his trips across the country. He loved visiting Florida and the Lake of the Ozarks. Peggy’s home cooking was what he loved to eat and he could often be caught with numerous treats and candy (many times with the help of his beloved son Nick).
He will always be remembered for his love and commitment to his wife and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Peggy, daughters Lisa (Ray Beach) Tevebaugh, Jessica (Joseph) Lamendola, and son Nicholas Tevebaugh. Grandaughter Sabrina (Wesley Smith) Macan and grandson Gavin Lamendola. Siblings Ernie Tevebaugh of Leavenworth, Larry Tevebaugh of Oklahoma and Dale (Julie) Tevebaugh of Leavenworth and sister Gertie (Bill) Landanger of Nebraska.
He was proceeded in death by his granddaughter Annalise Lamendola. His parents Joseph and Naomi Tevebaugh, three sisters: Carol Tevebaugh, Cleta Tevebaugh Harris, and Mary Ann (Tevebaugh) Thompson and four brothers: Joseph Homer Tevebaugh Jr., Nathan Leon Tevebaugh, Troy Andrew Tevebaugh and Michael George Tevebaugh. His beloved in-laws Robert Emmet and Emma Jean Shindler of Gardner Kansas.
