Mark Alan Wittlinger, 62, of Lenexa, KS passed away of natural causes on Monday, August 17, 2020.
Mark was born on February 17, 1958 in Marceline, MO to Dorothy & Ray Wittlinger. He was raised in Mission, KS and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1976. At that time, he always enjoyed the nickname “Fuzzy” given to him due to his hairstyle. Soon after graduation, Mark followed in his father’s footsteps and went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. Most of his professional career would be spent with the railroad and later working for the City of Olathe Traffic Operation Center. His greatest passions, and proudest moments, always involved watching, coaching and cheering on his children in sports and other activities they were involved in. One of Mark’s favorite hobbies was fishing, and he was a lifelong avid Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks fan. He loved his dogs Checkers and Gracie, and family and friends were always central to his life.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy and Ray Wittlinger; his brother Rick Wittlinger, and sister Mary Wittlinger. He will be greatly missed and is survived by his children: Crystal Wittlinger and her partner K.C. Hilgenkamp, Ray Wittlinger, and Jackie Wittlinger; cousins: Jeff Hawkins, Pam Romine and her husband Harry, Jenny Moore and her husband Chris, and Bobby Hawkins and his wife Stacy.
Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 21 at Resurrection Cemetery, 8300 Quivira Road, Lenexa, KS 66215. If attending, due to the ongoing pandemic, the family asks that masks be worn and all current safety guidelines be followed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the ASPCA.
