Steven passed away peacefully on December 8, 2016 at the age of 74 in the presence of family and friends. Visitation will start at 6 p.m. with the funeral service following at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS 66215. Memorial contributions may be made to North Care Hospice. Steven was born in Kansas City, MO to Alfred Earl Fenderson and Violet Marie (VanTuyl) Fenderson on May 2, 1942. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1960. He served 2 years active duty in the Navy from 1961-1963. He suffered severe injuries from a motorcycle accident in 1966 which left him partially paralyzed on his right side. He completed a business course at Kansas City Business College in 1969 and began working as an accountant at the airport. In 1971, Steven married the love of his life, Mary Ann Fogarty. Annie immediately became an active family member to the Fenderson and VanTuyl clans. Steven and Annie completed their family by adopting a precious baby girl, Patricia, in 1980. Their family moved to Texas, Virginia, Arizona and Nebraska during Patricia’s childhood due to Annie’s job, but almost always were home for Christmas and at least one other time during the year. Steve and Annie moved back to Kansas City in 2003 when she retired. Steven was preceded in death by his father Alfred Earl Fenderson in 1976 and his wife, Annie Fenderson, just this past September. He leaves his mother, Violet Fenderson; daughter, Patricia Cantrell (Tracy); granddaughters Maggie and Dani Streur; sister, Janice Patterson (Larry); brother, Bruce Fenderson (Susan); sister, Rebecca Brutto (Dean), 5 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and great nephews, and lifetime friend, Harry Williams, who was at his side when he passed away.
