Walter Roy “Sonny” Donohoo, Jr., 96, Lenexa, KS, passed away October 7, 2024. Born Walter Roy Donohoo, Jr. on July 9, 1928, in Pearl, Pike County, IL to Walter Roy Donohoo, Sr. and Anna (Pettit) Donohoo. He grew up in Pearl and moved to Pittsfield, IL, in high school.

On August 22, 1949, Roy married his true love Carol Jeanne Stumborg. Together they had six children; Rand Donohoo, Stephene (Donohoo) Moore, Kimberly (Donohoo) Evans, Timothy Donohoo, Heather (Donohoo) Harbison, and Henry Donohoo. They were married for 68 years before her passing in 2018.

Roy was beloved by all and was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Donohoo, his parents Roy and Anna Donohoo, his sister Bona Sutter, his niece Barbara Ann Huisman, and his daughter, Kimberly Evans.

He is survived by five children, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. 

There will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10 at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.

I assisted at the Atriums front desk. I got to know the residents and Roy was a very nice man. He loved chocolate ice cream and I would bring a pint to him from time to time. I’d check back and he’d always say that he enjoyed it. He will be missed!
