Virginia L. Franklin of Overland Park KS, passed away on January 8th, 2025. She is survived by her son Jerry J. Franklin, of Overland Park KS, daughter and daughter-in-law Jan M. Franklin and Kathy Moorehouse-Franklin of Matthews, NC, and her sister Willie Garcia. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Vincent J. Franklin, her parents Frances and Buster Redwine, and a sister Delores English.

Virginia had many accomplishments, after high school she was an executive secretary at Gustin Bacon, until the birth of her daughter Jan. She was Stony Point North PTA president from 1975-1979, Arrowhead Middle School PTA president from 1980-1982 and a member of the Washington High School Booster Club from 1982-1985. Virginia and her husband were both founding board members of WYCO Sports Association and volunteered there for 15 Years.

After her children had grown and the passing of her husband, Virginia rejoined the work force as an administrative aide at Shawanoe Elementary School. She would often say how much she enjoyed this job because of the time she got to spend with the children.

A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30am followed by the visitation until the Funeral Mass at 10:30am Friday, January 16, 2026 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, 7023 West 71st Street, Overland Park, KS.  Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Queen of the Holy Rosary or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
