Tamara Joyce "Tammy" Dawe Wichman, 86, Lenexa, KS passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2026 after a hard fought battle with dementia. On Saturday, April 25, there will be a visitation at Porter Funeral Home 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS at 9:00 followed by a funeral service at 10:00. The entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hospice Support Foundation 105 W. Sherman Way Ste. 110 Nixa MO 65714 or the Alzheimer's Association. The family would love to thank The Township's Memory Care Unit. Tammy received such love and support from every single member of their team during the last 18 months.

Tammy was born on May 2, 1939 in Herrington, KS. She moved to Atchison where she attended school K-12. Tammy graduated from Atchison High School in 1957. She earned her college degree from Emporia State in 1961. Tammy met the love of her life, Jerry Wichman, during her college years and they were united in marriage on April 28, 1962 in Seneca, KS. Tammy stayed home with her daughters taking them both to their many activities; being a girl scout leader; taking Lisa to her many sports events; and being a home room mother. When the girls graduated, Tammy became very involved in painting.

Tammy is survived by her daughters, Julie Whitaker (Jeff) and Lisa Underwood; three grandchildren, Mark Whitaker, Courtney Staggemeier (Ryan) and Jadyn Underwood; and two great-grandsons, Logan Staggemeier and Liam Staggemeier; her brother Ron Dawe; and many loved nieces and nephews whom Tammy adored.
