Sumit Agarwal, 44, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born March 29, 1981 in Tinsukia, Assam, India to Deep Chand Agarwal and Bhanu Agarwal. He later made his home in the United States, Sumit built a life defined by dedication, humility, and quiet strength. At UMB Bank, where he worked with exceptional sincerity, he was deeply respected by his colleagues. Sumit was known for his warm smile, his fun-loving nature, and the joy he brought into the lives of everyone around him. He had a rare ability to make people feel welcome and supported, whether through a thoughtful word or his gentle sense of humor.
Sumit’s friends, both in the U.S. and in India, were an important part of his life. He nurtured these relationships with kindness, loyalty, and a generous heart. His friends remember him as someone who was always there to listen, always ready to help, and always able to make even the most ordinary moments feel lighter and brighter.
Above all, Sumit was a devoted father. His daughter was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment he spent with her. He worked hard, hoped deeply, and did everything within his power to give her happiness, stability, and love. The bond they shared was one of the greatest joys of his life, and he carried her in his heart through every decision he made.
He approached every responsibility, at home, at work, and in his community with thoughtfulness and unwavering integrity. Sumit’s calm nature, cheerful outlook, and compassionate presence touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Sumit’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was outstanding in both academics and his professional career. He enjoyed movies, TV shows, trying new restaurants, traveling on vacations, and spending time with friends.
Sumit is survived by his his wife, Rashmi Jain, his beloved 7-year-old daughter, Samaira Agarwal, his parents Deep and Bhanu Agarwal, his brother, Amit Agarwal along with family and friends in both the U.S. and India who mourn his loss with profound grief.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, December 4, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia St., Lenexa, KS.
