With heavy hearts, we celebrate the beautiful life of Sitaben Nathabhai Patel, a devoted mother, grandmother, and guiding light to all who knew her. She passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at KU Medical Center, surrounded by her beloved children and grandchildren.
Born on December 5, 1940, in Bhadol, Sitaben began her journey in Dangarwa after marrying Nathabhai Somdas Patel, embracing her roles as a loving wife, nurturing mother, and pillar of her community. In 1980, she bravely immigrated to America with her family, supported by her beloved brother, Chandulal. With unwavering strength and resilience, she worked tirelessly to provide for her loved ones while ensuring that her children—Dinesh, Mahesh, Sumi, and Rajesh—pursued lives of excellence. Her boundless Mamta (motherhood) became the foundation upon which her family thrived, offering love and guidance through every challenge.
Sitaben’s warmth extended far beyond her home. She found joy in feeding others and ensuring no soul went hungry, including the neighborhood birds. Despite her own hardships, she never wavered in her bhakti—caring for Swaminarayan Bhagwan, performing suryadarshan even in the harshest winters, and filling her home with the devotion of her bhajans.
From a family of six to a legacy of eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Sitaben’s love has only multiplied. To our beloved mother and grandmother, thank you for teaching us that true happiness lies in service—to family, to God, and to our community.
Her kindness, devotion, and sacrifices will remain in our hearts forever. May her soul find eternal peace in the divine embrace of Swaminarayan Bhagwan."
