Aug 21, 1952---Nov 29, 2025

Robert J. Blick II, 73, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on November 29, 2025. He was born on August 21, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas, to Robert and Dolores Blick, who preceded him in death, along with his grandson, Jude Mark Gudenkauf.

Rob’s greatest joy in life was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years and 7th grade sweetheart, Erma (Coffey). Together they built a family that meant everything to him. He was a devoted and proud dad to Eric, Natalie Gudenkauf, Kevin (Elizabeth), and Brian (Ashley), and the most adoring grandfather to Lilyan, Theodore, Daniel, Emerson, Madelyn, Ryker, Kennedy, and Lexington. Rob is also survived by his sisters Jan Kollmai, Juanita Elliott, JoAnne (Paul) Woodruff, and Jackie (Kelly) Boothe, as well as many nieces and nephews who always knew they had an uncle cheering them on.

A 1970 graduate of Kapaun Memorial High School and later a student at Kansas State University, Rob eventually followed in his father’s footsteps as owner of Southwestern Office Supply Company. More than a job, it was a place where he built friendships, supported local businesses, and became a familiar, trusted face in the community.

Rob had a gift for making ordinary moments meaningful. He loved coaching his kids’ sports teams or playing the role of supportive dad from the sidelines. He enjoyed watching the National Geographic channel and his grandchildren were enamored by his tales of wildlife animals and nature. And whether he was collecting cars or adding to his sports memorabilia, he approached every interest with the same enthusiasm and care he gave to the people he loved.

Above all, Rob was a storyteller—quick-witted, warmhearted, and always ready with a smile that made you feel right at home. He had a knack for bringing people together and making sure they left with a laugh.

A Rosary will be held at 9:30 am. on Friday, December 5th at Curé of Ars Catholic Church, 9405 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas. Followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridget’s Cradles (P.O. Box 316, Kechi, Kansas 67067 www.bridgetscradles.com) or Outpacing Melanoma Foundation (www.outpacingmelanoma.org).

Growing up as a kid, Kevin’s house was the place to be, and Rob was “the fun Dad.” Anytime I was invited to their house in Wilderness, I was thrilled. Rob would usually take us to breakfast at Livingston’s or Brint’s Diner and we win a prize by guessing the bill – a tradition I continue today with my kids. I remember playing backyard football and being coached by Rob in 6th grade at STA who always encouraged me to “keep shooting 3’s!” Later, they moved to 140 S. Lynwood in Eastborough. An address I remember 30 years later because of the countless pizzas I ordered to the house during high school. Rob and Erma became like second parents to me. My Pontiac Lemans would usually be found in the left corner of their driveway, and I would let myself in through the garage. Most of the time I would sit and talk with Rob or Erma for 15 or 20 minutes before seeing Kevin. They always made me feel at home and cared about what was going on in my life. No one was more enthusiastic about cheering people on than Rob Blick. You could always hear him in the stands, and he loved talking golf even though I went to KU after months of aggressively recruiting me to K-State. Erma, I don’t know if you all realize the impact you had on me growing up so I wanted to share these memories. Raising a family is not easy but thinking of Rob reminds me to cherish them and to keep things fun! Maybe I'll even buy them a Jeep! :) With Love, Pete Krsnich

Though I knew Mr. Blick mainly through Kevin in high school, he left a lasting impression. He was one of those rare people who made others feel seen: always warm, upbeat, and genuinely invested in the people around him. The world was brighter with him in it. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. My heartfelt condolences to the whole Blick family.

Erma— I was so sorry to hear of Rob‘s passing. Even though I’ve lost touch with everyone over the years since St. Thomas, I always think of you and Rob fondly. It was so much fun growing up across the street from school and the Blick‘s house. You are both part of my happiest memories of Wichita. —Jean

Rob was awesome. He was one of the most uplifting individuals i’ve ever met. It was impossible not to be laughing and smiling if you were talking with him. He was funny, witty and always had a big smile on his face. He had a genuine interest in you, wanted to know how life was going and always made you feel welcomed. He was a good man and will be missed.
