Robert “Bob” Emmet Connor, 78, of Kansas City, KS, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, surrounded by his family. An open visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Street, Lenexa, KS. A Funeral Mass will be at 12:15 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 11th and Broadway Blvd., Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Cancer Action. Bob was born August 18, 1948, in Kansas City, KS. Bob attended St. Rose of Lima Elementary and Christ the King Elementary Schools. In 1966 he graduated from Bishop Ward High School. In 1988 he graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene College with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Management of Human Resources. He has been a member of Christ the King, St. Joseph Shawnee, and The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parishes. Bob was a purchasing agent for 45+ years buying parts for construction, medical, farming, and aviation equipment for various companies. He was a fantastic dance dad, carting his daughter to lessons, dancing on stage for a recital, emceeing company productions, and even being on the board for The Kansas City Dance Theater Company. According to his granddaughters Bob was a great girl-grandpa being a human jungle gym, a hairstyling mannequin, and put up with and participated in many of their shenanigans. Bob valued maintaining his lifelong friendships, as many in his current friend group are from elementary and high school days. They have spent the years playing sports, playing cards, going to sporting events, attending social gatherings, celebrating, hunting, and laughing a lot together. Bob is the 6th of seven children and has numerous nieces and nephews, and grand and great nieces and nephews. Bob is known for his love of family, love of friendship, kindness, acts of service, sense of humor, laughter, endless compassion, and being the best Santa ever. He was preceded in death by his father William C. Connor Sr., his mother Margaret C. Leonard Connor, sister Mary Lou Chambers, brothers William C. Connor Jr., James L. Connor, and Gerald L. Connor, and his wife of 49 years Sharyn A. Connor. Bob is survived by his partner of 6 years, Margaret Howe, daughter Qiyra (aka Allyson) Marie, granddaughters Margaret and Malia Edmonds, siblings Mike Connor (Nancy Carroll) and Karen Kaufman, beloved pup Cooper, and many extended family and friends.
