Robert "Bob" W. Gadwood, 86, Shawnee, KS, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the University of Kansas Hospital. The visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass following at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
Bob was born September 26, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the second son of Laurence and Mary Gadwood. Their family moved to Shawnee, Kansas in 1949 and he graduated from De La Salle Military School in 1955. Following high school, Bob proudly served in the United States Marine Corp 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, 5th Marine force recon; and later served as a member of the Marine Military Police. Throughout his life, he always said, "Once a marine always a marine. You never leave the corp. It's always a part of you."
The next 38 years Bob spent working in the car industry for American Motors and Chrysler; Overland Park Jeep in many capacities as a service manager. Retiring in 2000, Bob joined his wife Barbara working side by side with their McDonald stores. His fun passion was being a character; putting it mildly. He was always teasing, joking and pulling pranks on family and friends. His intense joy was being there for his family and friends. You could always count on Bob to help in any way you might need. In his heart and soul his true path was always a father, husband, friend, and brother. He was always having fun; so the angels in heaven better keep one eye open and a wing ready because they have an onery angel joining there ranks.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Laurence and Mary Gadwood; brother Larry Gadwood, son Roger Dade. Bob is survived by his wife Barbara Gadwood and brother Richard (Shelia) Gadwood. 5 children; Robert (Tina) Gadwood Jr., Joseph (Colleen) Gadwood, LaTisha (Johnny) Duckworth. LaTessa (Curt) Daniels, Anne (Regev) Alon. 13 Grandchildren; Robert (Jodyln) Gadwood, John Gadwood, Beau (Kim) Gadwood, Sadie (Kelso) Gadwood Klien, Tyler (Mary) Gadwood, Bailey Gadwood, David (Kelsie) Duckworth, Andrew (Shelby) Duckworth, Devin Duckworth, Jimmy Butterfield, Jadyn Butterfield, Barak Alon, Vered Alon. 14 Great Grandchildren; Stephanie Gadwood, Dez Gadwood, Sheah Gadwood, Jackson Gadwood, John Gadwood Jr., Maddox Gadwood, Novella Gadwood, Nevaeh Gadwood, Eleanor Gadwood, Walter Gadwood, Camden Duckworth, Aiden Duckworth, Maverick Duckworth, Anderson Duckworth. 1 Great Great Grandchild; Lucas Gadwood as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
