Robert (Rob) Allen Haaf, aged 63 of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 16, 2025 

Rob was in born in Jefferson City, MO, the son of  George (Herb) and Mary Agnes (Rackers) Haaf on April 25,1962.

Mr. Haaf grew up the youngest in a family of all boys and loved his family. He graduated from Blair Oaks high school in Wardsville, MO in 1981. He worked for his father’s business, Herb Haaf Heating and Cooling for 20 years. Shortly after graduation, Rob enlisted in the United States Army where he would go to serve 23 years as a Combat Engineer and EOD bomb technician. He served 4 tours of duty in the Gulf and Iraq wars. During His final mission on April 14, 2007, his military vehicle was struck by an IED, which led to a TBI, symptoms of which Rob still experienced until his death. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a 1st Sergeant in 2010. Shortly after discharging, he was diagnosed with lymph node cancer, which he still battled until his death.

On November 14, 2003 he married Monica (Sims) Haaf, who survives at their house. They raised 3 children, Ashley, Joseph, and Katherine. Together, the family enjoyed going to American Legion events to honor Robs service and were devout Catholics and avid members of their community. 

Survivors include his wife and children, mother- Mary Haaf of Jefferson City, siblings- James (Kathy) Haaf of Jefferson City, MO, and Michael Haaf of Jefferson City, and many cousins, family, friends, and fellow Soldiers and Legion members who loved Rob like a brother. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Herb Haaf.

A Catholic funeral mass will take place on Monday, September 22, at 11am at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Overland Park, KS. Friends and family will be received at a visitation on Wednesday, September 24, from 12:00-12:30 at Porter Funeral home in Lenexa, KS. Rob will be laid to rest with traditional military honors at National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS on Wednesday at 1:30. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 370 following the burial at 3:00 pm.
