Richard John Kirkendoll of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on October 9th, 2024, at the age of 67.  He was a loving husband, devoted dad and grandpa, and passionate Chiefs fan.  His greatest joy came from spending time with his friends and family. Breakfast with the guys, Chiefs watch parties, and everything Christmas was special to him.

Richard was born January 27, 1957, to Richard Sherman and Therese Claire (Laliberte) Kirkendoll in Central Falls, Rhode Island.  He grew up in Cameron, Missouri.  He attended Missouri Western State University, where he met his future wife, Teena, and graduated with a Batchelor’s degree in Accounting in 1979. He started his career at United Telecom in Westwood, Kansas as an auditor.  He held various positions within the company for 39 years until he retired as a Project Manager at Sprint.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Teena (Webster) Kirkendoll, and their three children, daughters Bethany Kirkendoll and Sarah (Ryan) Mathes, and son Ryan (Samantha) Kirkendoll, and one grandson Oren Mathes. He is also survived by his sisters, Cynthia Kirkendoll and Kimberly (Jandle) Johnson. He was blessed to have all his family live nearby.

A Visitation will be held at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15th located at 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kansas. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests for donations in Richard’s name be made to Kansas City Foundation for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
