Sep 10, 1935---Jan 31, 2026

Richard (“Dick”) Dean Harman, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, January 31, 2026, at 7:25 a.m. Born September 10, 1935, Dick was the son of Frank and Thelma Harman, who preceded him in death, as did his brother George Harman.

Dick grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1954, where he served as class president and excelled in multiple sports. He attended Central Missouri State University on a football scholarship before beginning a distinguished 40‑year career in the banking industry. Over the decades, he served in leadership roles at several Kansas City–area banks, including as President of Guaranty State Bank and First National Bank of Shawnee Mission.

He was previously married to LaDoris “Lori” Harman Langley, with whom he had three daughters: Becky Stauffer (Chris), Lori Lopez (Jerry), and Vicki Morgan (Jay). He is also survived by his brothers Frank Harman and David Harman (Karen); eight grandchildren; seventeen great‑grandchildren; and four great‑great‑grandchildren.

A man of many interests, Dick enjoyed golfing, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs—where he proudly served as a Red Coater—following college sports, playing bridge, reading, bowling, traveling, crossword puzzles, bingo, and chocolate. He adored his three daughters and was deeply grateful for the loving care they provided him throughout his later years, including during his time at Mission Square and Brookdale-Rosehill.

Dick was known for his good looks, charm, and playful spirit. He delighted in making his daughters laugh, whether through dog piles, spinning donuts in the snow with his Volkswagen Bug, or installing basketball hoops and ping‑pong tables that filled the house with neighborhood kids. He also took great joy in intimidating the boys who came calling.

In his final years, Dick expressed a sincere and growing faith in Jesus Christ, openly sharing his belief, his gratitude for God’s grace, and his heartfelt regret for past failures. His family takes comfort in the peace he found and the hope he embraced.

A service celebrating Dick’s life will be held at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, KS on Tuesday February 10th at 10:30 a.m. preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation or Brookdale-Rosehill Assisted living facility.
