Ricardo M. Avila, 45, Shawnee, KS, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the University of Kansas Hospital. Ricardo was born July 29, 1971, in Kansas City, MO and was a lifetime area resident. Ricardo attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School before joining the I.B.E.W. local #124, where he had been a journeyman electrician for more than 22 years. He was a loving husband, son, brother, and father. Ricardo loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for golf, woodworking, bowling and competing in Bar B Que competitions. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Avila, brother, Francisco (Frank) Avila, Grandparents, Francisco and Delores Avila and Antonio and Sara Pedroza. Ricardo is survived by his wife and High School Sweetheart of 30 years, Katie (Cisper) Avila, his daughters, Christina and Elaina, his son, Noah, his mother, Esperanza Avila, his brother, Daniel Avila (Shelley), many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. The Rosary will be recited at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS where the visitation will be held till 6 p.m. The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
