Reva was born on December 2, 1929, in Kansas City, Kansas, the only child born to Lloyd and Helen McQuitty. She was a graduate of Wyandotte High School and was a lifelong member of Grandview Park Presbyterian Church. In 1951, Reva married Jim Thixton. They welcomed two daughters, Sherry and Robin. Reva was initially a stay at home mom, until she entered the retail business, working for Sears, Macy’s, Dillards, Russell Stover, and Hallmark through the years.
After her divorce from Jim, she later married John Cooper in 1974. She loved John dearly and they had a good life together. They enjoyed traveling and just doing things together. They never missed an activity or sporting event of their four grandchildren. Grandma and Bubba would always be there for them.
Reva was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Helen McQuitty, her husband John Cooper, and Aunt Emily Keating. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Sherry and David Lysaught and Robin and Jerry Parrish. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Parrish (Tessa), Ryan Parrish (Mackenzi), Nicholas Lysaught (Michelle), Ashley Lysaught Gonyea (Nate), great granddaughter Gaby Herron, nieces Linda Dodd, Joni Hansen, and nephew Danny Weinert.
The family wishes to thank Mom’s caregivers at Riverbend Post Accute Rehabilitation Center , who showed her so much love and care. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to take care of our mom. A special thank you to Cathy, Stevie, and Savannah. You went above and beyond. You loved her. She loved you and so do we. There are others on her floor, who also took amazing care of mom. We wish we could name everyone. Thanks to all of you on the first floor for being with mom the last years of her life.
Reva had a very entertaining personality. She always told it like it was, without holding back. Her sarcasm was appreciated and inherited by a couple family members. Names won’t be mentioned. We will forever love you and miss you, Mom Grandma.
