On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Pete Secondo, 49, passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice House after a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by his father, James Secondo and is survived by his mother and sister, Karol and Paula Secondo.
Pete was born on November 25, 1975. Shortly after graduating high school Pete moved to St. Petersburg, FL where he fell in love with the opportunities of costal living. After returning to Kansas he embarked on a career in construction. His passion was in the field of masonry restoration. He owned his own masonry restoration company for many years before joining the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers. Pete was an exceptionally skilled artisan who derived the greatest of joy when bringing a centuries old church back to its original state by skillfully cutting and matching stone. The taller the structure the happier he became, knowing that he was one of only a few willing and eager to scale such heights. He also shared his masonry talents with his childhood neighborhood, restoring its stonework and statuary.
As a young child he brought home what he assumed was an abandoned fawn from a nearby park foreshadowing a lifelong love of animals of all types. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, annually volunteering his time toward their “Tootsie Roll Sale” in support of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. His favorite place to be was outdoors, participating in fishing, hiking and searching for snakes and scorpions. He was a true friend to many, always willing to help out in any way.
A private interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For anyone wishing to make a donation in Pete’s name, the family suggests the SPCA or any animal organization of their choosing.
