Patrick Shawn Owen, 70, Overland Park, KS passed away on Thursday July 22nd at Overland Park Regional Hospital.  He suffered a massive stroke.  There will be a visitation at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am on Saturday, August 9 at Church of the Ascension, 9510 W 127th St, Overland Park, KS 66213.  Burial will be on Monday August 11 at 10:30am at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Flush, KS.

Patrick was born on August 14th, 1954 in Kansas City, KS to Dale and Sharon (Ahern) Owen.  He was the oldest of 5 children.  He grew up in Frankfort, KS and graduated from Frankfort High School.  He played basketball at Cloud County Community College and was a very proud Kansas Jayhawk fan all of his life.  He served in the United States Air Force for 6 years and was part of Operation Looking Glass in Vietnam.  He worked as an HVAC Technician in his early years and then retired from the US Army Corp of Engineers.  His career took him to various locations including Ft. Riley, KS, Cincinnati, OH–Ohio River Division and Stephens City, VA where he made numerous trips into Washington DC.  Upon retirement he continued to work for FEMA helping out in various disaster relief missions.  He was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his family and close friends.

Pat is survived by his wife Phyllis (Umscheid), his daughter Abbie Fuqua (Chad), son Kyle Owen, step-daughter Jamie Finical (Mark), step-son Tim Berends (Kendra), grandchildren Kristin Finical, Andrea Finical, Trevor Berends, Evan Fuqua, Julia Berends, Cavan Fuqua, Victoria Berends, Finn Fuqua, and Brock Berends and his siblings, Kellene Polson (Tim), Erin Owen,  Kevin Owen (Lisa) and Sheila Welch (Bart) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
