Patricia (Ehrhardt) Church passed away at her home in Lenexa, Kansas, on December 30.
She was born on February 10, 1946, to Floyd and Louise Knight in Kansas City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, John Ehrhardt.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Rex Church, of the home; daughters Jody Ehrhardt and Julie Terry; son Terry Church; her grandchildren Xanthe Resz, Elizabeth Piper, Tahni Ehrhart, Dakota Ehrhart; Remy Terry, Emmy Terry, Mason Terry, Elise Terry, Roman Terry, Ali Sink, Hunter Church, Ryan Church; great-grandchildren Waylon and Jolee Ehrhart, Tyler Jacob and Spencer Sink, one sister, Carol Preble; and three brothers, Dennis Knight, Michael Knight, and Phillip Knight.
While her daughters were young, she managed the cafeteria at Saint Joseph Elementary School in Shawnee, Kansas. After the death of her husband John, she returned to school and became a Medical Assistant, a role she held until her retirement.
Following her marriage to Rex, they embraced a life of adventure, enjoying camping and boating with their RV. They moved to South Texas, where Patricia loved spending time at South Padre Island, soaking up the sun and listening to the waves. She also became the President of Amigos de Los Niños, a charitable organization that organized a Christmas party for approximately 2,500 children in Progreso, Mexico, each year.
After selling their house in Texas, they traveled full-time in their RV until age and health said to move closer to family, so they bought a townhouse in Lenexa.
Patricia was an extraordinary woman. She had the ability to make anyone smile with her infectious laughter and was always open to chatting with anyone, even those with half a foot. She never took herself or others too seriously and was always ready for a crazy idea or adventure, especially if it involved a Busch Light. Patricia also loved trips to Aldi, particularly for the "finds" she discovered in the crazy items aisle. We will miss everything about Patricia, and will always love her more than anything.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
