Marty and I connected as friends at HTC, each fathers with three sons. We worked closely together at HTC, where I was North Americas CFO. Marty was a joy, super smart, always positive, and humble. He drove our major EVO 4G success, bringing together "three ugly ducklings" - Sprint, Best Buy, and HTC - and selling 6 million phones in 15 months! Jami, I am so sad for you and your sons. My condolences to the family. When losing a loved one it can be unbearable. In the Bible book of Isaiah 25:8 Jehovah God promises soon to "swallow up death forever." He also promises to bring back those who have fallen asleep in death (Acts 24:15). In the near future while longer this kind of pain will be a thing of the past (Revelations 21:4). While the sudden death of such a wonderful person is still weighing heavy on my mind, I would like to share a funny story about Marty because one of Marty's most blessed traits was his sense of humor. He and Jami were first time homeowners, and Marty was so excited to have the nicest lawn on the block. Of course he wanted to get rid of some pesky weeks. So....... he sprayed Round Up over the entire lawn to really get those weeds. It worked!! But the grass wasn't too happy. Rest In Peace Marty.... give hugs to Mary and Jacko.
