Marilyn May Roy, 88, of Lenexa, KS passed away June 1st 2025 at Kansas City Hospice House. Marilyn was born to parents Clarence and Charlotte Girard in Niles, MI. Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, Jim, and they were married for 54 years before his passing in April of 2016. She is survived by her younger brother Steve and her children Kelly and Mike as well as her grandchildren Dani and Katie.
Marilyn and Jim loved to travel, host and attend neighborhood parties and cheer on their Kansas City Chiefs - even the years they weren't winning! Whether it was from their season ticket seats or, in their later years, from the comfort of their own home the Chiefs were a big part of the Roy family.
Marilyn also loved her friends. She loved spending time at the lake with the "Golden Girls", drinking coffee and chatting with friends at the gym and vacationing in Sarasota, FL with friends from Ohio. Marilyn was sweet, loved to socialize and had a smile that made you feel at ease. She could also be stubborn and "breathe fire" when she was mad which is how she got her nickname the Dragon Lady (or the "DL") from her husband Jim.
In lieu of flowers, she asked if donations could be made to Hospice House of Kansas City.
There will be a Memorial Service June 5th at 5:30pm at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia St., Lenexa, KS.
