Melinda, words can’t express the feelings of loss you must be feeling, but yet the knowledge of joy knowing where she is now is overwhelming. Your family has experienced a lot of loss over the years, but I pray you take the time to study this scripture because it will bring you joy, peace, and hope. John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.” Your mom was a believer in Christ, and lived her life in care of those put in her life. Find joy in knowing that she is at rest!

Melinda: Our condolences on the loss of your mom. Marilyn’s contacts at the hospital were a great help to me when I came to work for the NCAA in 1986. I recall Lou and Marilyn’s staff gatherings in Omaha for the CWS. Great fun.

I was so sad to hear about the passing of your sweet and fun mom, Melinda. I loved Marilyn, and we always had a good conversation whenever we were together. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and the gift of hospitality. I remember great food and a lot of laughs at NCAA parties they hosted at their home. It’s so tough losing a parent. Prayers for peace and comfort during this difficult time of great loss and sorrow, and as you transition into this next chapter of life without your dear mom. May sweet and tender memories continue to warm your heart. Sara Abler
