Margaret Mary Gampper, 100, died September 20, 2026. She was born August 1, 1926, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Mary Krisch and Joseph Stampfel.

Margaret graduated from Ward High School in 1944 and earned her degree cum laude from Mount St. Scholastica College, now Benedictine College, in 1947. Before marrying Frederick Karl Gampper III on September 6, 1948, she worked as a home visitor for the Wyandotte County Welfare Department.

While living in Topeka, Kansas, Margaret and Fred also participated in the Menninger Family Living Program, opening their home to 10 patients over a 12-year period.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents; her siblings, Mary Martin, John Stampfel, and Ann Muir; and her son-in-law, Al Henderson.

She is survived by her children, Maureen Henderson of Lenexa, Kansas; Fred Gampper IV of Sierra Vista, Arizona; James M. Gampper (Dr. Chanika) of Bangkok, Thailand; and Dr. Thomas J. Gampper (Dr. Cynthia) of Charlottesville, Virginia.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erin (Andy Lee) Busenhart, Sarah (Aaron) North, Laura (Josh) Mathis, Krista (Scott) Starrett, T.J. (Kara) Gampper, Lauren Gampper, and James Gampper Jr.; and by nine great-grandchildren.

Margaret's visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 25 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 W. 92nd St., Lenexa, KS. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Mount St. Scholastica Benedictine Sisters, 801 S. 8th St., Atchison, KS 66002
