Mack Pryor was born in Kansas City, Kansas on June 16, 1949. Mack grew up in Kansas City with his three sisters Janet, Connie and Ann and their parents Mack and Virginia. 

Mack served in the U.S Army during Vietnam, where he was deployed for a single tour before returning home. Mack was deeply affected by his time and Vietnam and took pride in being able to visit the Vietnam Memorial several times during his life.

On returning from Vietnam, Mack lived in Florida for a time before returning to Kansas City to receive his Associates Degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College. 

In 1978 Mack joined the Lawrence Police Department, where he would serve for 27 years. During this time Mack made numerous lifelong friends including Dan Affalter, Ray Urbanek, Carroll Crossfield, William Shepard and Jim Akagi. Mack retired from the Lawrence Police Department in 2004 at the rank of Detective Sergeant. There are too many stories to share here, but Mack loved his time as a Police Officer and spent many hours sharing his stories with his friends and family long after he retired. 

Mack loved motorcycling, and took as many trips as he could as soon as he retired. Mack was especially proud of his Harley Davidsons, and made sure to have many photos taken when he bought his first Harley. Mack loved traveling the country on his motorcycle, whether he was alone or with close friends.

Mack is survived by his two sons Mack A. Pryor and Nicholas J. Pryor, as well as his five grandchildren Bently, Isabella, Christian, Landon and Luka. In addition Mack is survived by his sisters Connie and Ann as well as a great great many close cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Mack was a kind and compassionate man, both professionally and in private with his family. We will all miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 25th at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS.
