Leah Adele Brown was born July 13, 1952 in Kansas City, Kansas and left the earth to be with her Savior on June 9, 2025. Leah was the first of five children born to G. William and Woodyne Mann. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1970 and attended Kansas State University, graduating in 1974 with a degree in Dietetics.
Leah married the love of her life, Dennis Brown, on May 25, 1974. They resided in Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Shawnee, Kansas. They reared their two daughters in Shawnee, and Leah was involved in the many activities of the girls. She was an active member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church for 36 years.
Leah’s career in the field of dietetics spanned decades. She worked in multiple hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, home health and hospice care. Leah provided compassionate and expert care to countless patients. The Good Samaritan Society (Olathe), where Leah worked for many years, cared for her in the last six months of her life.
Leah was a 32 year breast cancer survivor and supported the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Leah’s life reflected God’s love as she loved and cared for family and friends and that love will remain in the hearts of all of those she touched.
Leah was preceded in death by her parents, her two infant sons Graham Matthew Brown and Benjamin Tyler Brown and her brother David Mann. She is survived by her husband Dennis Brown, her daughters Rachel Lynch (Doug) and Allison Sumners (Larry), siblings Amelia Mann, Sarah Seeman (Jeff) and Dwight Mann, grandchildren Braye Brown, Ethan Lynch, Harper Lynch and Jozie Sumners, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 17 at 10:00 am at the Shawnee United Methodist Church, 10700 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service at 9:00 am. Graveside service will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112.
