Sep 12, 1947---Dec 17, 2024

Larry L. Cicero, 77, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the University of Kansas Hospital surrounded by his loving daughters. The visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. with the Funeral Services at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 23,  at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave. Kansas City, KS .  Burial with Navy Military Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.

Larry was born September 12, 1947, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of David V. and Wilma J. (Clawson) Cicero. He was a graduate of University of California Hayward and Baker University.  Larry served his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1995. He worked 34 years for Honeywell where he retired in 2014 as a manager of environmental testing. In his spare time he was very involved in his daughter’s organizations including the Girl Scouts where he proudly served as an assistant leader for Troop 44 and the Wyandotte County Sports Association where he coached several softball teams and served on the board for many years.  Larry loved baseball, spending summers traveling to visit both major and minor league teams. An early adopter of computers, he enjoyed staying current with technology using it to connect with friends and researching his family history.  He played guitar when he was younger and could tell you which song was popular when reflecting on major milestones throughout the years.  His number one joy though was spending time with his family, usually at the dining room table with a deck of cards. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma; two daughters Angela Cicero and Gina (Brian) Hershberger; sister Joy Cicero; grandkids Aidan and Aubrey.

Sending my sincere condolences to the Cicero family. Larry’s departure leaves a felt void in the world. I was blessed to work alongside Larry at Bendix, AlliedSignal/Honeywell for several years. He had a way of making me laugh with his somber expressions. I was so happy we were reconnected and able to keep in touch via FB.

Larry is one of my longest lasting friends from Bryant Grade School. We were in the same Cub Scout den. We attend each other’s birthday parties as kids. Our families bowled together on different church league teams in the 70s and 80’s. Larry and I teamed together to start a Facebook group for our grade school. We enjoyed reminiscing our early days and talking about old friends. I will surely miss Larry. My wife, DeAnn, and I offer our deepest felt sympathies to Norma and all of Larry’s family.

Larry was a great friend and confidant. We spent so many weekends and cruises together and he always shared his wisdom and made us all better sailors. He was more importantly a true friend and made the world a better place

I am sad to be learning of Larry's death. Although we had not been together recently, we had exchanged messages on FB and through Messenger. We had known each other since our days at Wyandotte HS. May God's richest blessings be with all of his family members as they get through this very difficult period of loss during the Holiday Season.
