May 17, 1948---Jan 05, 2025

Katherine (Kate) Frances Kelly Call, 76, Overland Park. KS, formerly of Louisville, KY passed away Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at home with her husband, Daniel, at her side. Visitation will be Friday, January 17 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home & Crematory, 8535 Monrovia St., Lenexa, KS. Private services will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Children’s Miracle Network or Catholic Community Home Care.

Kate was born May 17, 1948, in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Arvin Kelly. She moved to the Kansas City area in 1974. Kate developed close relationships with her customers at her health food store, The Good Earth, in the Prairie Village Shopping Center, which ignited her passion for helping people. After selling her store, Kate went on to complete her RN Degree at Johnson County Community College. She started her career in oncology at the Kansas City Cancer Center. Kate later went to work for Menorah Hospital and was part of the team that started the oncology department at Menorah Cancer Center, where in 2010 she earned an award for supporting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of her patients.  She completed her BSN at UMKC and became an OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) which led her to a position at Research Hospital as a breast navigator. Kate remained at Research until she decided to retire in order to care for her step-grandson, Hans. Once Hans was able to attend daycare, Kate worked for The University of Kansas Hospital as a PRN oncology nurse. Kate officially retired in 2018. Kate was a devoted grandmother and a lifelong dog lover.

Kate is survived by her husband of 36 years, Daniel Call; two children Patrick Whitney (Jenny) and Katherine Audley; three stepchildren, Natasha Harrison (Ryan), Dominique Christenson (Randy), and Sean Call (Clare Barclay); six grandchildren Ben and Emma Whitney, Isabella and Hans Christenson, and Miles and Hugo Call: brother Pat Kelly (Sara); sister Dawn Kelly; nephew Sean Kelly (Cassie) and great-niece Raven Skye Kelly.  Kate was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Mike Kelly.
