John R. (JR) Massie
01/07/1983 - 08/26/2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Massie, affectionately known to many as JR, who left this world peacefully on August 26, 2026, with his loving family by his side after many years of privately battling major health issues. Born on January 7, 1983, in Overland Park, Kansas, JR spent his life surrounded by love, adventure, and a deep dedication to the people he cherished most.

JR was the beloved son of John and Theresa Massie, who raised him with unwavering love and strong values. He shared a close bond with his brother, Cody Massie, and treasured his role as an uncle to his nephews, Griffin Massie; and Cyril and Clark Kleymann.

In a beautiful celebration of love, JR married his soulmate, Abby Kuttler, on June 19, 2009, in Miami Beach, Florida. Together, they built a life enriched with love and laughter, welcoming their precious daughter, Kabree, on June 6, 2011. Their family was complete on December 13, 2013, with the birth of their son, Cooper. JR's children brought immense joy to his life.

JR found great satisfaction in his career in the software sector of the fuel industry, but his true fulfillment came from the moments spent with his family. Whether it was embarking on family vacations or enjoying quiet evenings at home, JR's family was his world. His love for them was evident in every choice he made and every smile he shared.

He was predeceased by his dear Aunt and Uncle, Melissa and Bob vanVoorst, and his father-in-law, Warren Kuttler. His loss is felt deeply by his surviving family, including his devoted wife, Abby; his adored children, Kabree and Cooper; his loving parents, John and Theresa; his brother, Cody; his caring mother-in-law, Debbie Kuttler; his supportive sister-in-law, Kellee, and her husband Jason Kleymann.

No services are scheduled at this time. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

JR will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy of love, strength, and warmth will forever remain in our hearts.

I am truly saddened to hear of JR’s passing. When we worked together I always found him to be energetic and intuitive as well as focused on his customers’ success. In our “off hours” and at conferences after we went separate carrier directions he was always warm, encouraging, and uplifting. Your family remains in our prayers.

I'm at a loss for words JR was the first grandkid on my dad's side of the family. It was such a big deal, I remember the t-shirts that were printed. I didn't realize there was only 7 years between us. The Lake will always be home for me. Because that's where we would all go to see each other. And have a blast. John, Theresa, Cody, Abbie I'm very sorry for your loss
