Joan L. Wankum, 87, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025.  Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 13, at Queen of the Holy Rosary, 7023 West 71st Street, Overland Park, KS.  Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice.

Joan was born November 27, 1937, in Topeka, KS to Paul and Rose (Wanstrath) Bechtel.  She was an agent for State Farm Insurance, retiring after many years of service.  She was very involved in activities, playing cards, Tai Chi at her residence (Santa Fe Towers Apartments).  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ted Bechtel, son Drew, and grandson Josh.  She is survived by her brother Bob Bechtel, 3 children Eric Wankum, Bruce (Marie) Wankum, Lisa Cecil, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
