Feb 18, 1969---Jul 26, 2023

Jeffrey A. (Jeff) McMahon, 54, of Lenexa, KS, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in Lenexa, KS.

On Thursday, August 10, 2023 the Family will receive visitors beginning at 2:00pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church located at 7740 Lackman Road, Lenexa KS  66217.  Memorial service will follow immediately at St. Paul's at 3:00pm.  After the service, all are invited to gather for a celebration in honor of Jeff's life at the Father Quigley Faith Formation Center at 9201 Summit Street, Lenexa KS  66215.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to his children's education fund.  Donations to that memorial fund can be made online here, or at the church.

Born February 18, 1969, at Kincheloe Air Force Base in Michigan, Jeff was the son of Susan Marie (Peterson) Weast and the late Michael James McMahon.  Jeff grew up in Hiawatha, KS, where he graduated high school in 1987.  After high school, Jeff attended Kansas University where he graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  Jeff also served 10 years in the U.S. Army National Guard, earning the rank of First Lieutenant before his honorable discharge in 1997.  He began his career in software engineering at Informix Software which ultimately became HCL, providing 28 years of service and earning the respect of clients and co-workers around the world for his exemplary problem-solving abilities, patience, and customer service skills.

Jeff married Leslie Kahler from Mendon, MO, in 2001, and they celebrated 21 years of marriage.  Together they have 2 children, Mikahl and Caran. Jeff was extremely proud of Mikahl and Caran, and they were his world.  The McMahons made their home in Lenexa, KS, and are members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife and children, Jeff is survived by his mother Susan Marie (Peterson) Weast and stepfather Larry Weast, brother Steve (Sara) McMahon, sisters Laura (John) Whitiker and Jennifer (Tom) Mitchell, stepsiblings Jim (Sara) Weast, Jeff (Nell) Weast and Laura (John) Richardson, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.  Jeff was preceded in death by his father Michael James McMahon and stepfather Don Fitch.

Those of us surviving will do well to honor Jeff’s memory as we all knew him and loved him and not of the mental illness that ultimately consumed him.  In his death, Jeff is giving the gift of life and hope through organ donation and research.

We’re so sorry for your loss. Jeff spent a lot of time at our home in Hiawatha. Wherever Jeff was laughter & pranks we’re always a common occurrence. During the summer months Jeff & Beans would load up a group of kids & head to Kansas City for concerts. He was so proud to say he graduated from KU & we would all give him a hard time during football season because we were Kansas State fans. He would always say wait until basketball season & we’ll see who’s great. We were so happy when Leslie came into his life because she loved Jeff for the wonderful guy he was. He also loved being a dad. God blessed us with Jeff in our lives.

Jeff was someone I always looked forward to seeing at work. Always a positive person and gentle demeanor. He was a favorite by just about everyone, customers included. I saw him the last month at the office, and he shared some physical struggles, which they couldn't figure out the answer to, and was just hoping things would improve. Losing such a wonderful person like Jeff took the wind out of my sails. I used to work with Jeff all the way back to the mid-90s in support. He was a down system engineer, and I was an escalation engineer. I always knew if I had a tough question he would help as best he could or get me closer to an answer than I was. And when I was a manager in Regency Support and heard Jeff was working the case with one of my TAMs, that we had zero to worry about. He was just a wonderful person and the kind of person that could easily be a "best" friend. Missing him and praying for his family.

From Sportsbet Australia - One of Jeff's Customers. We’d like to pass or our most heartfelt condolences to his family, and to his HCL colleagues. We had a very close working relationship with Jeff, both on a personal and professional level. Collectively we have such admiration for him. We thoroughly enjoyed the regular collaboration with him and as such hold him in such high regard, as a great, decent, and very genuine person and a great family man. We’ve also had the pleasure of meeting members of his family a few times on our Zoom calls between the US and Australia, and had a great time laughing at some of the American and Australian cultural clichés and nuances. Our heart felt condolences he will be missed. From the team at Sportsbet
