It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Jared Trent Mullinax, a cherished husband, father, son, and friend. Jared departed this world on June 6th, 2026, at the age of 50, in the comforting presence of his family after a courageous and hard-fought battle with brain cancer. His strength and resilience throughout his illness, and every challenge he faced were representative of the way he lived his life: full of grace and determination.
Jared was born on November 9, 1975, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Richard “Sarg” and Ladonna Mullinax. From a young age, he was a beacon of joy and laughter, a gift he shared generously with everyone around him. He attended Parsons High School, graduating in 1994. He continued his education at Allen County Community College, where he was a member of the State Champion Golf Team, and later earned his degree in Biology from Pittsburg State University in 1999.
His education laid a strong foundation for success at many jobs, but his career at Gem Gravure was most notably where he found more than a job, he found a home. At Gem, he was known not only for his professional excellence but for his integrity and character. Jared’s colleagues and clients alike were drawn to his contagious smile and genuine interest in others.
During his time at Pittsburg State, Jared met the love of his life, Jen, and they were married on June 9, 2000. The life they built together was an example to all who knew them. They loved deeply, laughed often, and always put one another first. Their marriage was a testament to strength, partnership, and unwavering commitment.
Together, they raised four remarkable children - Grace, Isabelle, Samuel, and Sophia - who were the pride and joy of Jared’s life. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he was endlessly proud of the individuals they are.
Jared was also blessed with many incredible friendships. He shared countless adventures and unforgettable trips with those closest to him, creating stories that will be told for years to come. An avid sports fan, Jared especially loved cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawks. Whether watching a game or passionately debating sports commentary, his enthusiasm was infectious.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Sarg” Mullinax, and many beloved grandparents, whose memories he held close. He is survived by his wife, Jen, his children, Grace, Isabelle(Chase), Samuel, and Sophia; his loving mother, Ladonna Mullinax and brother, Brad Mullinax, many cousins, aunts and uncles, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, who have always felt more like family.
Though Jared’s physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit will forever live on in the laughter of his children, the love of his family, and the memories of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and kindness will endure, reminding us all to always love out loud and take the trip.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, June 9th, with a Rosary being prayed at 4 p.m. and visitation from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS.
The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, June 10th at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery directly following the Funeral. Following the Burial, there will be a luncheon at Sacred Heart of Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jared’s Memorial College Fund to support his children’s continued college education. Click here to donate
May he rest in peace, embraced by the love of those who have gone before him.
