He loved spending time with his family at Lake Lotawana. He enjoyed being independent even at 92 years old, still driving and living at his home in Kansas City, KS. We were very lucky he was independent which made for many laughs at tasks he should not do but did out of pure tenacity. The fact a 92 years old, would run a weed eater while on oxygen in a backpack tells the story. He loved helping and working on family projects, family dinners, homemade cookies and holidays. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even on oxygen with bad knees, you could find him on the floor playing with his great grandchildren. He enjoyed breakfast with his fellow work employees and friends every month. He was a NASCAR fan and had tickets to the Kansas Speedway even at 92; he timed the race with the amount of oxygen in his tank just to attend.
James favorite location to go was Bennett Springs fishing in Susie’s hole. He loved fishing with the grandchildren. James was notorious for falling in and the family was always there to help him out. James Jr. bought him an auto-inflate life jacket since it was so common. His son James enjoyed taking up from the waterfall fishing in deeper holes.
James was born and raised in Kansas City, KS and graduated from De La Salle High School. He retired from the Board of Public Utilities in KCK in the meter department. He enjoyed his time with his wife and family after retiring.
