Duane L. Buckmaster, age 60, passed away on Thursday January 27th, 2022, with his Bride and children at his bedside. He was born to Darlene (Bennett) Roper and Edwin Buckmaster in November 1961, in El Paso, Texas. Duane graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City, Ks in 1979. Then attended Kansas City Community College. Soon after married his High School sweetheart and the love of his life Kathy (Miller) Buckmaster in 1981. They moved to Arizona to begin his career as an entrepreneur. Duane had a passion for all things real-estate and kept a constant pulse on the market. He was known as Mr. Fix it and loved working with his hands to bring Kathy’s visions and designs to life. Together they have owned and flipped countless properties.
Duane had a full life even though it was cut too short. He enjoyed several activities from creating beautiful stained-glass windows to restoring several classic cars. Duane was a member of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association. He enjoyed entering his two Deuce in a half Army Trucks in car shows and driving them in parades: especially with the VFW on the 4th of July. He was an Eagle Scout as well as a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. His scouting career continued with son Paul. One of their greatest adventures was at high adventure base, Philmont Scout Ranch. Duane had many titles and roles throughout his life however, his most loved title was Papa.
Duane was survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathy. Two loving children Susan (Greg) Ford, and Paul (Stefanie) Buckmaster. Five Grandchildren who were the biggest fans of Papa. Hailee, Sam, Harper, Lucy, and Hadley. His mother Darlene (Gene) Roper. Brother Dale (Bonnie) Buckmaster. Sister Denise (Ed) Garneau. Stepbrothers Dave (Terry) Buckmaster, Jeff (Kim) Roper, and Michael (Sarah) Buckmaster. Father-in-Law Robert Miller. Sister-in-Law Darlene (Ronnie) Grover. As well as many nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in Death by his father Edwin (Yoshi surviving) Buckmaster.
A Celebration of Life for Duane will be held Friday, March 25th, 2022 from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Eagles Landing at Lake Olathe, 475 South Wardcliff Drive, Olathe, KS 66061.
