Nov 02, 1939---Jan 29, 2026

Dr. Murray David Corbin, age 86, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life defined by service, discipline, faith, and devotion to family.

Murray was born on November 2, 1939, in Hays, Kansas and grew up in Stafford, Kansas with his parents Leland Corbin and Betty Laue Corbin, alongside his two older brothers, Richard and Robert.

On June 2, 1962, Murray married the love of his life, LaReta Jean Royer, his devoted helpmate for sixty-three  years. Together they raised two children, Catherine Corbin and Michael David, and were later blessed with nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Murray served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Vietnam War. He went on to practice medicine as a specialized invasive cardiologist from 1972 until 2013, caring for thousands of patients and earning the respect of colleagues across the region. His leadership roles included Chief Resident at KU Med, President of Kansas University Medical School House Staff, President of the Providence Health Medical Staff, President of Humana Hospital medical staff, President of Saint Margrets Hospital staff and President of the Kaw Valley Heart Association.

An accomplished athlete, Murray set a Kansas State University indoor long jump record, lettered three years in track at Kansas State University, and achieved a Level 5 tennis ranking after winning the Missouri Valley Men’s 40 and under tournament.

Following his retirement from medicine, Murray devoted himself fully to ministry, serving as a full-time church volunteer and bible teacher from 2013 to 2022. His faith journey was deeply personal and transformative, culminating in years of Bible study, teaching, and discipleship at Shawnee Bible Church, which he often described as the most joyful season of his life.

Murray believed his greatest achievement was not professional, but personal—that his children became good parents. He considered one of his highest honors to stand as best man at his son’s wedding.

Murray is remembered as a man of integrity, humility, discipline, and faith—one who lived fully, served faithfully, and loved deeply.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. with the Memorial Service following at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, at Shawnee Bible Church, 12921 W. 61st St. Shawnee, KS.
