On Friday, October 3, 2025, Darrell Eugene Hawk, 75, of Shawnee, KS, passed peacefully away at his home. The funeral will be held on Friday, October 10 at 2 p.m,, at Porter’s Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. There will be no visiting hours preceding. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to either: Pastor Serve, Habitat for Humanity, or Harvesters.
Darrell was born in St. John, KS on January 23, 1950 to Lewis Junior and Marilyn Jane (Davis) Hawk. He lived in Macksville, Larned, Wichita, and Hutchinson, Kansas prior to moving to what became his final home in Shawnee, KS in 1987.
Darrell was an avid car guy. He was particularly infatuated with Corvettes and owned several models during his time on earth. He possessed a vast knowledge of Corvettes and often voiced his opinion on their merits. Darrell was an officer in the Central Kansas Corvette Club in Hutchinson. He organized, and successfully participated in, many autocross racing events across the state.
Darrell worked for 28 years for Bell Telephone / AT&T. During a period of his time there he took on the challenge / responsibility of being a union steward. He retired from there in 2003, at which time he opened his own business, Better Than Bell. He operated that business until 2017.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lorrene Hawk. Darrell is survived by his wife, Eileen D. Sargent, who he married in 2008, and his sisters, Marilyn (Larry) Stude and Vicki (Bradley) Schmitt.
