It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Louis Raab, who left this world far too soon on December 10, 2024, at the age of 30. A Kansas City native, Daniel lived a life full of love, creativity, and passion that touched everyone who knew him.
Daniel was an unwavering fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, cheering on his hometown teams with boundless enthusiasm. Whether he was watching a game or playing sports himself - be it basketball on the court or baseball in the yard - Daniel's love for competition and camaraderie shone brightly.
One of Daniel's greatest joys in life was music. He poured his heart into writing lyrics and recording hip-hop songs, often collaborating with close friends in his makeshift basement studio. He drew inspiration from artists like Lil Wayne, Eminem, Juice WRLD, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, and King Von, as well as from his mother Natalie's rock drumming and singing, his father Steve's virtuosity on piano and guitar, and his brother Stephen's home and studio recordings. Stephen also worked closely with Daniel, assisting in his recording efforts and encouraging his growth as an artist. His music was a reflection of his soul: raw, passionate, and brimming with love.
Daniel adored spending time with his family, particularly his two young nieces, who thought the world of their "Uncle Dan Dan." He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his unborn nephew, due in February. Children gravitated to Daniel's warm spirit and fun-loving nature, finding in him an easy friend and cherished playmate.
A gamer at heart, Daniel spent countless hours immersed in NBA 2K, Madden, and Call of Duty, bonding with friends over shared victories and lighthearted banter. He also found joy in horror movies and his dogs, Skippy and Zoey, who were loyal companions through the years.
To know Daniel was to know someone authentic, kind, and deeply sensitive. His infectious laugh and quirky sense of humor brought levity to life's heaviest moments, while his unwavering sincerity touched the hearts of all around him. He had an innate curiosity about the universe, a playful mischievousness that kept things lively, and a forgiving heart that made him impossible to stay mad at. His boyish dimples and sly grins could brighten any room, and his loving energy left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Daniel leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his loving parents, Natalie and Steve Raab; his devoted siblings, Jami Polly-Pelzl and husband, Mike, Greg Raab and wife, Alie, and Stephen Roper; his cherished nieces, Avery (16) and Mira (2); and his loyal dog, Zoey.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kay and Louis Raab, and his childhood dog, Skippy.
His family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Daniel's life at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS 66215, on Wednesday, December 18. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by services at 12:30 p.m.
To honor Daniel's memory, guests are encouraged to add a touch of Kansas City Chiefs or Royals team colors to their attire - whether a pin, scarf, or other small accent - while keeping with the tone of the occasion. The family also welcomes those attending to bring and share cherished memories of Daniel, celebrating the joy and love he brought to so many lives.
