Dec 06, 1963---Feb 16, 2025

Claudia Diane Colson, 61, Overland Park, KS passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. A private graveside family service will be held at Pleasanton Cemetery. The family requests donations to your local animal shelter in her memory, in lieu of flowers

Claudia was born December 6, 1963, in Springfield, MO, the daughter of Barbara June Polster. She spent her childhood living in Indianapolis, IN, Mission, KS, and Oklahoma City, OK. Upon moving to Overland Park, KS, as a young adult, she embarked on a career as a police dispatcher, and eventually police dispatch supervisor with the Overland Park Police Department. She was with the Overland Park Police Department for 15 years. She then spent several years at the Prairie Village Police Department as a dispatch supervisor. She found the responsibility of connecting citizens to law enforcement officers in times of emergencies profoundly rewarding. Upon leaving the police dispatch profession she pursued a passion and talent for managing finances by studying for and earning her Series 7 licensing. She then worked as a financial advisor for several years. Claudia will be remembered for her deep love of animals and strong independent spirit.

Claudia was preceded in death by her mother and aunt, Esther(Joseph) Amos. She is survived by her daughter, Deidra (Wade) Walker, and grandchildren, Cora and Dean.

Deidra, I worked with your mom at OPPD. She was so nice and pleasant and always had a smile and kind words when we bumped into each other at the police department. I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a mom is always difficult and I hope you can find peace in the memories you have. Angie Redpath

Deidra, my condolences on the loss of your Mom. I remember her sharing pictures of you when you were little when we worked together at Overland Park PD. She would light up talking about you. Again, my condolences to you and your family. Praying strength, Brenda

Deidra and family I am so sorry for your loss, Claudia and I worked together in dispatch for many years. Claudia was very good at her job. Many nights that we worked together we talked about our daughters and our animals so we never had a hard time finding things to laugh at and talk about. Prayers for strength and comfort at this time!
