Arlevia Mercer, 64, of Kansas City, KS, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. The visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. with the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 10 at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Sisters Servants of Mary, 800 N. 18th St., Kansas City, KS 66102 who had provided their love and care for Arlevia for 22 years.
Arlevia was born April 5, 1958, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of James Thomas and Elena Mae (Burns) Mercer. She graduated from Sumner High School and attended UMKC, Rockhurst College and graduated from Baker University. Arlevia worked for Hallmark Cards as a computer specialist for 12 years before being stricken with MS in 2000. She was a member of Harvest Church in Kansas City, MO. Arlevia was preceded in death by her father, James Thomas Mercer and her brother, James David Mercer. She is survived by her mother, Elena Mercer, aunt, Rena Gaines,
great aunt-in-law, Mary Burnett, great uncle, Robert Burnett and his wife Betty, aunt Charlene Waters, and her best friend, Adrienne Patterson and many, many cousins.
