Jun 01, 1978---Aug 04, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved daughter, sister, mother, partner and friend, Annamy Dang, affectionately known as "Mimi", who left us far too soon on August 4, 2025, at the age of 47.

Born on June 1, 1978, Mimi grew up in Overland Park, KS. where she developed a lifelong love for her hometown teams — cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and the Kansas Jayhawks with unwavering pride. Her passion for life extended far beyond sports. She found joy in travel, food (especially Mexican food), and exploring the beauty of national parks, but her heart was always happiest near the ocean. The beach was her sanctuary — a place where her warm spirit seemed to shine even brighter.

She had a rare gift of being strong yet gentle. She was the embodiment of compassion and grace — a natural peacekeeper, endlessly forgiving, and deeply kind. Her presence brought calm, comfort, and laughter to those lucky enough to know her. Whether she was spending time with close friends, planning a new adventure, or simply soaking in a sunset, she did so with an open heart and a radiant smile.

Mimi was a devoted and loving mother to her son, Lestat Dang Earl, who was her greatest joy and whom she cherished above all. She was also a treasured daughter to her father, Nghia Dang; a loving sister to Tony, Andy, and Annabelle Dang, wonderful sister-in-law to Christina and Karen, long-time partner to Lester Earl and a deeply loyal friend to many.  She adored her two Goldendoodles, Oliver and Winston, and recently embraced a playful obsession with Hello Kitty that made us smile.

Though her time with us was too short, her legacy of love, kindness, and connection lives on in every heart she touched.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm Friday, August 8th, 2025 at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Street, Lenexa, KS.  A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 9th, 2025 at 1:00pm at Neighborhood Church, 8600 W. 91st Terrace, Overland Park, KS.  66212.  Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the beautiful life she lived.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mimi's GoFundMe (https://gofund.me/5e7d47b3) in her honor.  The funds will go towards a trust to support her son's future that we know will shine bright.

Condolences

My heart is so heavy right now. Mimi and I first met at PCI, which cultivated into a 17 year long friendship. We shared so many good times throughout the years. I will miss that beautiful smile and spirit. May you rest in peace Mimi!

Mimi and I became friends at PCI many, many years ago and instantly connected. She is a wonderful soul, an amazing friend, and someone I will never forget. I’m thankful to have been able to be a part of her life and her mine. Love to everyone who had the pleasure to know and love her.

To Mimi’s family, and especially to her beloved son, Lestat, We were heartbroken to hear of Mimi’s passing, and we send our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to you. Mimi was a bright light in all of our lives, and we are holding you close in our thoughts and prayers. We first met Mimi at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. We can still picture her walking the campus — always with the warmest smile and kindest heart. She greeted everyone with joy, and her presence lit up every space she entered. Her fashion was effortlessly cool, her spirit was beautiful, and she was loved by so many. Everyone on campus knew Mimi — not just for her style and smarts, but for the kindness and humility she carried every day. We also shared special moments together at Ninth Street Baptist Church in Lawrence, where Reverend Brown and First Lady Diana Brown were like spiritual parents to us all. That church became our second home — and Mimi felt like our sister in every way. Though the years passed and life moved us in different directions, we stayed connected through social media. We watched with joy as Mimi became your mom, Lestat — and what a proud, loving, and adventurous mom she was. We saw you grow up through her eyes and felt her pride in every photo and story she shared. Even from afar, it always felt like we were still cheering her on — and cheering you on too. Lestat, please know how incredibly loved your mom was — and still is. She touched more lives than you can imagine, and the love she gave is something that will live on forever. She was strong, joyful, kind, and full of light — and we see those same qualities in you. We know this must be incredibly hard, but her love surrounds you always. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” —Psalm 34:18 And as we’ve leaned on in our own hardest moments: “Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.” We will forever be grateful to have known Mimi and to have called her our friend. Her memory will live on in every life she touched — especially yours, Lestat. With love, prayers, and heartfelt remembrance, Kellee, Jennifer, Joy, Nardos, and all of your Jayhawks and Ninth Street Sisters
