Oct 18, 1952---Apr 17, 2025

James Carl "Jim" Trickey passed away on April 17 after a long illness. Jim was born on October 18, 1952 in St. Louis to Cecil and Francis Trickey. As a child, he moved to Kansas City and graduated from Kansas City North High School in 1970. He served in the U. S. Army from 1973-75 and then returned to Kansas City. Jim graduated from Rockhurst University, and then continued his education at UMKC Law School. Jim had a private law practice for many years and upon retiring, worked for other attorneys, and enjoyed selling cars.

He is survived by his son, Chris, (Alyssa), of Liberty, his sister Susie (Bill) of St. Louis, brother Tyler, of Boulder City, Nevada, and his partner of many years, Pam Sweeney of Lenexa. Jim was also loved by Pam's daughters and grandchildren.

Visitation is Saturday, May 3 at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS from 2 to 4 p.m. For those who want to join us in celebrating his life, we will meet afterwards at the Torreador Mexican Restaurant in downtown Overland Park to share stories of Jim.

Memorial gifts can be made to Tunnel to Towers (T to T.org) or Wounded Warrior Project.

Jim and I worked on a number of legal projects together. Always wicked smart concerning the law. Somewhat of a troubled soul but he always meant well. Rest easy Amigo.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting James Trickey and serving him as his chaplain and friend! What an incredible guy—soldier, lawyer, and a true humanitarian. It was such a joy to get to know him and hear about his experiences. I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to connect with someone who made such a positive impact in the world!

Jim was truly a good person. Always enjoyed my encounters with Jim who I knew from the time he started practicing law. Sense of humor and he enjoyed fellowship with others.
