Dec 05, 1931---Feb 24, 2025

Patricia Joan Bell Stevens Watson was born December 5, 1931 near Valey Falls, Kansas to Frank M. Bell and Martha Lora (Minnie) McCrea Bell.  When Patty was but 13 days old, Minnie passed away and Frank was left with the tiny baby, a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter.  Patty was then adopted by Minnie’s cousin, Wylie McCrea Stevens and her husband Charlie M. Stevens and grew up in a happy home with much love.  Her youth was spent on a farm between Valley Falls and Winchester, Kansas.  Patty graduated from Winchester High School in 1949.

Patty became a secretary for the Jefferson County Farm Bureau and later worked at the State Bank of Oskaloosa, KS.  She married Kenneth E. Watson on April 1, 1951 and the couple moved to Kansas City, KS in 1953.  They were blessed with three children, Charles, Carol and David.  They were married for 51 years at the time of Kenneth’s death in 2002.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Wylie Stevens, her brother Glen M. Bell and her sister Floriene Lillie.  She is survived by her three children, Charles F. Watson of Lawrence, KS, Carol L. Watson of Kansas City, KS and David E. Watson of Perry, KS.  She is also survived by granddaughter Holly M. Pyle, grandson Jordan D. Watson; great-granddaughter Greer J. Pyle, great grandson Brom Watson Pyle and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pat was an active member of the Wyandotte United Methodist Church for many years.  Pat’s family suggests  memorial contributions be made to the Church at 7901 Oakland, Kansas City, KS 66112.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City, KS 66102.  A visitation time for sharing with family will follow services.

good friends ,Tucson ,Arizona

Carol and family, Your mommy was a beautiful, and very loving, and very caring Christian woman that Mike and I dearly loved. I (Joneen) was so very blessed to know Mrs. Watson where I originally lived and grew up until I was 13 yrs old in Kansas City, KS, until I and my family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1967. But when my husband Mike and I retired a few years ago and started taking road trips, we were both blessed to get to stop in and visit with Mrs. Watson when we were in the Kansas City area. We absolutely loved her so very much and loved visiting with her. She will be sorely missed by me and Mike. God Bless Mrs. Watson and her loving family.

Chuck, Carol, and Dave, I am so sorry for your loss. What a kind, loving, and happy lady, I can still hear her laughter as she would talk to mom about things that were happening in life in KS. Like I told Phil, your loss is heaven’s gain. What a lady—we’ll never forget her! Love you guys!

Patty was an Angel on earth; she so enjoyed giving comfort, encouragement and friendship to everyone she knew. We cherish the time she and Carol was at our house for a Stevens cousin Christmas and again at the Stevens reunion held at Earl and Mary Stevens’ lake. She was a delight to visit with. She will be missed by many. Blessings to Chuck, Carol and David in the difficult days ahead. With love, Larry & Sharon Stevens
