Michael was always joyful as he shared his wanderlust for exploring local countrysides in Kansas and Ireland. He was a fun touring partner. Michael also showed his appreciation for the friends and family around him. He will be missed at the holiday meals that regularly we shared. May he rest in peace.

Michael was always a great lover of the outdoor life, exploring the foothills of the mountains, exploring the Kerry hills and mountains here with his walking friends. In earlier days loved travelling to Ireland with his bike, which he bought in Dublin and travelled all over Ireland. Spent several Christmases with him watching sports and tours of the big tours of cycling held throughout the year. Will be sadly missed here by all his friends. May he rest in peace. Kathleen Curran

The last several days have been very tough with the passing of Uncle Michael. He wasn’t a force of nature or a huge personality in the family, but he was consistent and kind. He was always there for his family, being supportive, kind and loving. I fondly remember our stay in Dingle with Uncle Michael. He would sneak out for runs and adventures around Ireland while the rest of us stayed in, and that has always inspired and excited me to also get outside and see the world. Uncle Michael will be missed and his memories will dwell fondly with me. Sending love and condolences to all who are grieving his loss.

It is difficult for me to process that Michael isn’t with us anymore. In the US and Ireland over many years Ed (my late husband) and I joined Michael on many fun filled adventures. Rest in peace, Michael. You will be sorely missed.

We are so sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. Our thoughts are with you and all who loved him during this difficult time. We had the privilege of visiting his home in Dingle, Kerry where he found such joy in the scenery and the peace of that beautiful place. It was clear how much it meant to him, and I hope those memories bring you some comfort. Wishing you strength and peace in the days ahead. Please accept our deepest condolences. With sympathy, Eileen Collins-Kennedy and Siobhán, Justin, Kevin and Joanna

I will always remember Uncle Michael as somebody who had a passion for learning and exploring the world around him. I fondly remember one of his vacations to California where he volunteered to help me repair two folding wooden kayaks and his joke of “These oughta be good enough now. It’s not like we’re painting the Sistine Chapel or anything!” Michael will be missed as one of our “Nextdoor Uncles” from a state over - may his soul rest in peace.

I met Michael when he came to visit us in Colorado last summer. He brought so much joy and excitement on our adventures and even just sitting around the living room. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.

Our family has the fondest memories of Michael when we visited Dingle. He met us when we arrived and took us for a walk “around the town,” which turned out to be a lovely hike for hours and ending with tea and cookies at his house. It has always been one of our favorite memories to tell at family get-togethers. His kindness, warmth, and generosity made a lasting impression, and we will never forget his gentle spirit. Deepest sympathy to everyone in the family and his friends. Much love from our family.

Thank you ALL for your heartfelt and most comforting condolences. I cherish them! I request your prayers for my brother, Bernard, and his road ahead, shouldering more responsibilities than any of us could imagine. I share here the closing of my eulogy for Michael with its scripture and prayer. May it bless you as well. Thank you. In conclusion, I was an intimate friend of Michael’s for 75 years. I was privileged to observe him care for family members. He was always a hit with his nieces and nephews playing sports, reading books, and undertaking educational projects. I believe that Michael’s entire life reflected model righteousness. I love this scripture as it personalizes a common, mysterious impression of Our Lord. From the New Testament’s One Peter Chapter 3, Verse 12, I quote, "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their prayer.” End quote. Let us pray: Holy Lord, may Michael’s goodness find favor with you, and may Michael be blessed with eternal salvation in your holy presence… Amen.
