May 11, 1998---Jan 02, 2025

Reed F. Winkley, 26, of Olathe, KS, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025.  Services will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 14251 Nall Ave., Leawood, KS on Wednesday, January 15th. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM with Rosary following. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM with luncheon following.  Memorial contributions may be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Johnson County

Reed was born May 11, 1998, in Overland Park, KS to Kevin and Beverly (Kaiser) Winkley.  He attended St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School, and Blue Valley Northwest High School. Reed graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Business Administration and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Reed relocated to Dallas, TX for his job shortly after graduating. In his free time he enjoyed working out and golfing with friends. Reed was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and especially loved to hunt with his family. He became an accomplished duck caller, irritating most of the family with his practicing, and trained his rescue dog, Gypsie, to be an excellent bird dog. You could always count on Grandpa and him ribbing each other about who actually got the quail.

Before his passing, Reed worked as an Implementation Specialist at Blue Yonder.  Reed was a humble young man who lived his life with integrity, honesty and love of family. He had a kind heart and was always ready to help anyone who asked. He will be greatly missed! He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ken Winkley and Delores Crow.  Reed is survived by his parents Kevin Winkley and Beverly Winkley, brother Trey Winkley, sister Cara and her husband Christopher Haas with nieces Sadie and Hadley, maternal grandparents Don and Carol Kaiser and many extended family and friends.

I don’t believe I had the opportunity to ever meet Reed. His brother Trey is who I have known and been friends with. However, I have only heard great things about Reed. My heart aches for the entire Winkley family. Sending love, thoughts and prayers from the Lawrence family.

Kevin - John and I were so sorry to hear about the passing of Reed. Our daughter Drew was in his class at BVNW and said nothing but great things about your beautiful son: Sweet, kind, caring and incredibly nice. Our son Beau is friends with Trey so we know all about the special kids you have raised. We will be thinking of all of you through these difficult days and will pray for peace that comes from thinking of all the wonderful memories you made together.

I am so sad to hear of Reed's passing. I had the privilege of teaching Reed as a middle school student when I was working at St. Michael the Archangel. What a bright light! Holding all of you in prayer and sending love to your family.
